The wizard clockmakers of the Black Forest have done it again, portraying this story in whimsical automata. Here, the deer jump as if startled by the cuckoo's call. After the hour is called, the music plays and the dancers dance in the balcony.

The sound of the bird is produced by real wooden whistles and the music comes from a real mechanical music box movement.
